Dry eyes are one of the most uncomfortable eye conditions which can really impact on your lifestyle and appearance. Anyone can suffer from dry eyes, and it wasn’t until I started to experience the symptoms of dry, itchy and gritty eyes, and I found my eyes were getting dry and tired when working in front of the computer, that I really understood how important it was to find solutions both for myself, and for my clients.
Why do I have Dry Eyes?
There are many causes of Dry Eye, but basically it is symptomatic when the surface of the cornea in the eye is not sufficiently protected by the tear film when it’s exposed to air. The corneal surface normally has a thin layer of tears constantly covering it and keeping it moist and providing a smooth optical surface. When this tear film breaks up it becomes unstable and stops functioning properly, that’s when the discomfort begins. These symptoms of dry eye can include dryness, itchiness, scratchiness, light sensitivity, contact lens intolerance, burning, stinging, grittiness, tired eyes.
I’ve tried eye drops, but they still don’t help, how can you fix my Dry Eyes?
Dry eye drops are not the only way to manage Dry Eyes, which is why you’re still experiencing discomfort. I approach solutions to dry eye management by assessing more than just the symptoms, it is important to look at the whole picture to best find the customised strategies which will work for you.
